    Following are highlights from Day 1 at SIGGRAPH Asia 2019.

    SIGGRAPH Asia 2019 Opening Day Registration

    The Doctoral Consortium & ACM SIGGRAPH Asia Thesis Fast Forward programs that took place were a forum for PhD students, along with a panel of experienced SIGGRAPH Asia researchers, to meet and discuss their work with each other in an informal and interactive setting.

    The ACM SIGGRAPH Frontiers Workshops explored three of the hottest areas in computer graphics right now: Autonomous Vehicles and Car Experience; Artificial Intelligence, and Virtual Reality, and especially their combination.

    Method Studios’ creative leads broke down their collaboration with Director Andy Muschietti and Production VFX Supervisor Nicholas Brooks to realize some of the film’s most twisted moments with frightening phobia-driven visuals. Presenters were Josh Simmonds, Nick Tripodi and Alex Halstead.


    Business & Innovation Symposium

    This exclusive one-day VIP event explored the intersection of technology, creativity, and business, supported by the conference committee, business sponsors and the local government. It featured speakers from multiple industries and backgrounds, allowing attendees to explore the future of innovation, design and technology.

    Pixar's RenderMan Exhibitor Talk
    Toy Story 4 reached new heights of visual storytelling with some of the most sophisticated cinematography that Pixar has created. In this presentation, Dylan Sisson showcased Pixar's core technologies that helped make Toy Story 4 possible: RenderMan and USD (Universal Scene Description). During production breakdowns and demos, he showed the latest RenderMan workflows for lighting and look development, featuring powerful interactive workflows for artists.

    The Technical Papers Fast-Forward, was an entertaining, illuminating summary of SIGGRAPH Asia's 2019 Technical Papers in one exciting session! The author(s) of each paper are allowed 40 seconds to wow the crowd with research to entice attendees to hear their complete paper presentation in the next 3 days.
